Chicago

In 2018, Chicago’s Department of Water Management found excessive drinking water lead levels after an individual homeowner requested a test. Given Flint’s recent crisis, DWM knew local distress sparks widespread panic without action.

1

Challenge

In late 2018, a homeowner requested Chicago’s Department of Water Management test the safety of his family’s drinking water. DWM testing showed lead levels exceeding maximum EPA limits and understandably, the family and neighbors were seriously concerned.

They were told to flush any potable water outlet for at least 5 minutes before use, but this solution was temporary and did little to ease their fears.

2

Solution

DWM had heard Noah literally “got the lead out” overnight in several Chicago public schools that found unsafe levels in their drinking water. They needed a way to emphatically defeat this threat, to save everyone from an even bigger one. They needed a hero - and that hero was Noah.

Ramos quickly determined the optimal placement for the Noah system, then scheduled and personally installed it within a week of being contacted.

Results

DWMs hero took lead levels to near zero - undetectable - and kept them there. That kept a grateful family in the home they loved.
